Berkeley Animal Shelter Surveys Region's Residents On Pet Matters

If you've found a lost pet, had your pet go missing, or adopted a pet in the Bay Area recently, the agency wants to hear from you.

BERKELEY, CA — Berkeley Animal Care Services is surveying area residents about their experiences with pet services.

If you've found a lost pet, had your pet go missing, or adopted a pet in the Bay Area within the last five years, the agency, which serves Albany, Berkeley, Emeryville and Piedmont, wants to hear from you.

The number of pets entering the shelter has dropped sharply since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020, officials say. It took in 844 dogs and more than 500 cats in 2019, but only 517 dogs and 358 cats in 2020.
