Berkeley Death Probed

A Downtown Ambassador found the man laying unresponsive inside a planter box Saturday afternoon in downtown Berkeley, police said.

BERKELEY, CA — A man in his 60’s was found dead Sunday afternoon in downtown Berkeley, police said.

A Downtown Ambassador reported finding the man laying unresponsive inside a planter box on the 2100 block of Shattuck Avenue, police said.

The Fire Department responded to the scene and determined that the man was deceased, police said.

The Coroner’s Office has not yet determined the cause of death, police said.

“This is an unattended death investigation,” Officer Byron White told Patch.
