Berkeley Hotels Receive Free Masks, Hand Sanitizer

Visit Berkeley has distributed the items to hotels, along with information on sanitizing for coronavirus.

BERKELEY, CA — Berkeley hotels are currently allowed to be open, although amenities such as swimming pools are closed, and those popular breakfast buffets are now grab-and-go bags similar brown bag breakfasts from local schools.

Hard-hit hotels have received a boost in the form of free personal protective equipment (PPE).

Visit Berkeley recently delivered 29,000 masks and 168 gallons of hand sanitizer to hotels, along with information on applying for the CHLA Clean + Safe program.

The California Hotel and Lodging Association (CHLA), in partnership with the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services is providing the PPE to members.

“This is an outstanding and much-needed benefit of our membership in CHLA,” said Barbara Hillman, Visit Berkeley President & CEO. “We are proud to be able to help provide critical PPE resources to our lodging partners across the city.”

"Our members are grateful for the governor's support of PPE equipment that enhances their readiness to reopen,'' said Lynn S. Mohrfeld, President and CEO of CHLA.

The initiative provides hotels with cleaning and disinfecting protocols, with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the California Department of Public Health, and county public health departments.
