Berkeley Man Arrested In Connection With Freeway Shooting: CHP

The shooting occurred Wednesday at around 4:35 p.m. on southbound Highway 880 at Industrial Parkway, authorities said.

HAYWARD, CA – A 28-year-old Berkeley man was arrested following a shooting on Interstate Highway 880 in Hayward on Wednesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Kevin Sanders was taken into custody following a pursuit that began when officers responded around 4:35 p.m. to the shooting on southbound Highway 880 at Industrial Parkway.

Minutes later, officers spotted the suspect vehicle being driven recklessly on Highway 880 at Decoto Road and a pursuit ensued into the city of Fremont where the vehicle struck two other cars and Sanders was eventually taken into custody.

He and the victims of the collision in Fremont had minor injuries, while the shooting on the highway struck a vehicle but no people, CHP officials said.

Sanders will be booked into jail on suspicion of attempted murder, shooting at an occupied vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon, felony evading, hit-and-run, and resisting arrest, according to the CHP.
