Berkeley 'Preachin' Diva' Competes Today on TV Bible Challenge

Jackie Melton-Jenkins will appear tonight on GSN-TV's "The American Bible Challenge," hoping to win $140,000 that would go toward a family life center in Oakland. Comedian Jeff Foxworthy is the show's host.

A Berkeley graphic designer is one of the three "Preachin' Divas" who will compete today on GSN-TV's The American Bible Challenge, hosted by comedian Jeff Foxworthy.

Jackie Melton-Jenkins and her teammates, Michele Brown and LaShawn Taylor, will compete for $140,000 that would benefit the A.D. Willis Memorial Center, a new family life center in Oakland.

The three women are all members of the Lily of the Valley Christian Center which is building a million-dollar, eco-friendly family life center that will showcase green technologies.

On the one-hour game show, contestants compete based on their knowledge of the Bible. The tournament features 18 three-person teams — three teams in each of the first six episodes of the season, including the "divas," who will appear on tonight's premiere.

The winning teams from those episodes advance to play in two semi-final games. During the final round, one team will be named champions.

The American Bible Challenge airs at 9 p.m. today. In the Berkeley area, it may be seen on Comcast channels 161 and 822 (HD), DIRECTV channel 233, DISH Network channel 116 (HD) and Telco / AT&T U-verse channels 173 and 1173 (HD).
