Crime Alert: Armed Robbery at LeRoy and Ridge Intersection

A student was robbed of his backpack at gunpoint while walking towards the U.C. Berkeley campus.

From the Berkeley Police Department:

On Thursday, Nov. 15 at around 11:00 p.m., an armed robbery occurred near the intersection of LeRoy Avenue and Ridge Road.  The male student victim was walking when the suspect approached him from the front.

The suspect armed with a dark colored handgun demanded the victim's backpack. The victim complied and was not injured during the encounter.
The suspect fled southbound on foot toward campus. University police and the Berkeley Police Department checked the area and was unable to locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as: A Black male, approximately 40-50 years of age, six-feet-tall, medium build, facial hair (possibly a beard), wearing dark clothing and armed with a dark colored handgun.
