BERKELEY, CA –A newly formed police oversight board that has been granted expanded authority will hold its inaugural meeting this week.
The nine-member Police Accountability Board, which replaces the phased-out Police Review Commission, wields greater powers to investigate complaints, has broader access to police records and has more time to investigate a complaint before making potential findings or a recommendation, city officials said.
The board's first meeting will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. on Zoom.
