On Tap: Berkeley Beer Garden Aims to Open April 18
Mike and Amy Voisenat, who operate the Hobnob restaurant in Alameda, plan to open Moxy, their beer garden with craft beers on tap and specialty hamburgers, on April 18. It's on Sacramento Street in south Berkeley.
A Berkeley couple said the prominent outdoor patio of a closed business on Sacramento Street just four blocks from their south Berkeley home put the idea of a new beer garden in their heads.
So Mike and Amy Voisenat, who own The Hobnob restaurant in Alameda, decided to establish the Moxy Beer Garden at the former Casa Vino space at 3136 Sacramento St.
"It's four blocks from our house," Mike told Patch. "It has a pretty prominent outdoor patio that's not being put to good use."

Burgers are big on the menu, with three types of beef burgers, a Moroccan lamb burger, a blackened turkey burger and a "veggie" burger. (A photo of the veggie burger – on a house-made bun with kalamata olives and tzatziki sauce– can be seen on the Moxy Facebook page.)
Other edibles include vegan buffalo wings, three kinds of fries and salads.
Moxy is one of four craft beer venues expected to open soon in Berkeley, according to the Contra Costa Times. The others are
- a Sierra Nevada Brewing tasting room on Fourth Street near University Avenue
- The Rare Barrel, a "sour beer" brewery on Carlton Street
- Hoi Polloi Brew Pub on Alcatraz Avenue
