Deadly Highway 13 Crash Claims One Life

The accident happened Tuesday evening between Broadway Terrace and the Highway 24 interchange, the CHP reports.

OAKLAND, CA — A solo motorcycle collision Monday evening on state Highway 13 north of Broadway Terrace in Oakland is being reported by the California Highway Patrol.

The accident was reported to the Golden Gate Communications Center shortly before 5:30 p.m. the CHP says on its Facebook page.

The accident happened in heavy traffic, according to the CHP, which said "The rider appears to have applied the motorcycle's brakes, which possibly caused the rear end of the motorcycle to lift from the ground and subsequently eject the rider."

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
