Pedestrian in Crosswalk Hit, Critically Injured

The crash happened Tuesday night near the Ashby BART station.

BERKELEY, CA —A pedestrian who was struck by a car near the Ashby BART station in Berkeley on Tuesday night remains in critical condition at a hospital Wednesday, a police spokesman said.

It appears that the 55-year-old man was in the crosswalk when he was struck by the car at Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Adeline Street at about 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, according to Officer Byron White.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police, White said.
