Rain, Wind Forecast: Atmospheric River To Flow Through Berkeley

A Wind Advisory has already been issued for Friday. Expect heavy rain here and snow in the Sierra.

BAY AREA — Get ready for a vicious storm to slam through the Bay Area Friday and Saturday, as the National Weather Service says strong winds and heavy rain are in the forecast.

The weather service has already issued a Wind Advisory beginning Friday morning. Expect sustained winds of 15 to 30 mph, and wind gusts up to 50 mph.

Keep in mind your outdoor Christmas decorations — blow-up Santas and snowmen may blow away unless you bring them inside.

The rain is scheduled to hit later Friday, up to an inch and a half around the Bay Area, with more on Bay Area mountains. If you are heading for Tahoe, take chains, as this storm will be a significant snow-maker.

The rain will conclude on Sunday.
