Strongs Winds Knocking Power Out Across Bay Area

High winds are triggering advisories on bridges, causing power outages and knocking over trees around the Bay Area this evening, Sunday

All but around 1600 customers in Vallejo have had their power restored this evening after a downed tree knocked out a power line, according to a PG&E spokeswoman. 

Wind advisories have been issued for the Bay Bridge and the Benicia-Martinez Bridge in Contra Costa County, according to the California Highway Patrol. Drivers are being advised to use caution.

In San Francisco, city Public Works officials are reporting a number of calls for downed trees at locations including Van Ness Avenue and Pine Street, Valencia and 20th streets and Third and 20th streets.

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission is also responding to a power outage on Treasure Island caused by wind-blown debris.

The National Weather Service is forecasting blustery conditions with westerly winds of 15 to 25 mph this evening to continue through early Monday. Gusts of up to 35 mph are possible, according to the forecast.

The strongest winds will be felt tonight near the coast and on the eastern slopes of mountain ranges. Areas above 2000 feet could see gusts of up to 45 mph for a few hours tonight, according to weather service officials.
