Special Olympics Torch Run Through Berkeley
The torch wound its way through Berkeley on Tuesday, and then was passed to Albany.

BERKELEY, CA —The Special Olympics torch made its way through the city of Berkeley on Tuesday.
The University of California Police Department began the Berkeley leg of the torch's journey when they took the handoff from the Emeryville Police team at San Pablo Avenue and Burnett Streets. Then it was passed to the Berkeley Police Department team.
The route included Ashby Avenue, Adeline Street, Dwight Way, Telegraph Avenue, the UC Berkeley campus, Oxford Street and Allston Way, Milvia Street, Martin Luther King Jr. Way, The Alameda and Solano Avenue.

The "Flame of Hope" torch symbolizes courage and unity. The final destination of the torch is the 2019 Special Olympics Northern California Summer Games in Davis on June 21.
