$37.5 Million Middle School Renovation Begins Next Week

Construction on San Ramon Valley Unified School District's Stone Valley Middle School will begin with a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday.

Alamo, CA- Construction on the $37.5 million Stone Valley Middle School renovation project will officially begin on Thursday, May 12 with an official groundbreaking at 10 a.m.

This project will completely transform the campus, replacing and modernizing aging classrooms and facilities. Significant upgrades include 21st-century science and elective labs, technology, music room and commons. The design includes a new quad at the center of the campus for students to come together.

The project is estimated to cost $37.5 million and is funded by the $260 million Measure D Facilities Bond, which was passed by voters in 2012. During the construction, 24 temporary portable classrooms have been placed on a portion of the playfield. Construction is scheduled to be complete in time for the opening of the 2017-2018 school year.

Stone Valley Middle School was originally built as a K-8 school in 1959 on 9.9 acres. Today, the school serves about 600 students in grades 6-8.
