49ers Cupcakes Served Up By Smallcakes In Danville

DANVILLE, CA — You wear your favorite team's logo on game day, so why not eat it, too?

At Smallcakes: Cupcakery and Creamery, a custom bakery in Danville, customers are already placing orders for Super Bowl-themed treats. Cupcakes are topped with a vanilla buttercream frosting and feature a San Francisco 49ers logo printed on edible rice paper, grass made of green frosting, footballs, and red and gold swirls speckled with gold pearls.

Smallcakes creates seasonally themed cupcakes and received some requests for football-themed cupcakes last year, said Manager Nisha Kanakarajan. The store was busy with Super Bowl Sunday cupcake orders, but last year "was not as exciting as having the 49ers," she said.

This year, it's personal.

Smallcakes cupcakes come in regular and mini sizes, and can be baked with chocolate, vanilla, red velvet, banana or chocolate almond batter, Kanakarajan said. They're baked fresh every day.

And yes, Smallcakes will make Kansas City Chiefs-themed cupcakes too. But only by request.
