Alamo Hay & Grain Co. Closes After More Than 55 Years
The popular feed store was known for its iconic horse statue on top of the shoe store in front.

ALAMO, CA — A popular Alamo feed store has permanently closed its metal door after almost 60 years of business. Alamo Hay & Grain Co., which sold pet and equestrian supplies, along with feed, chicks, ducklings and bunnies, abruptly shuttered in late July.
The historic feed store, which was located at 3196 Danville Blvd., opened in 1962 and employed many Tri-Valley teenagers throughout the years.
In 2016, the community mourned the loss of owner John Bellandi, who took over the store in the late 1970s. His widow, Anne Bellandi, handled the business until it closed.

Residents who learned of the recent closure took to social media to share their fond memories of the East Bay mainstay. Many longtime customers mentioned the property's famous horse statue, which was often decorated for the holidays.
The Danville Chamber of Commerce told Patch that they are sad to see the iconic store close. The former store management could not be reached for comment.
