Alamo Man Arrested on Suspicion of Selling the Drug 'Molly'

Joshua Steinhorn, 19, had an estimated value of $45,000 worth of MDMA, or "Molly," in his Isla Vista apartment, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's department.

A 19-year-old man from Alamo was arrested on suspicion of multiple drugs violation, including possession of a controlled substance for sale, in Santa Barbara on March 20, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's department.

Joshua Steinhorn is suspected of selling the drug MDMA, known as “Molly,” which is chemically consistent with ecstasy.

Santa Barbara police say Steinhorn, who was under investigation for three months, had 4,500 doses, or one pound, of MDMA in his Isla Vista apartment. The street value is estimated at $45,000.

"Evidence seized during the course of the investigation, reveals that Steinhorn was packaging the “Molly’ to sell to the Isla Vista community," the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's department said.

Along with possession of a controlled substance for sale, Steinhorn was arrested and booked for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Steinhorn was attending Santa Barbara City College and his bail is set at $30,000. His next court date is scheduled for April 25.
