DANVILLE, CA — A 64-year-old Oakland man was killed Saturday morning when he was ejected from the big rig he was driving when it struck the center divider of Interstate Highway 680 in Alamo in unincorporated Contra Costa County, the California Highway Patrol said.
The accident happened at about 6 a.m. Saturday, when the big rig driver, headed south on I-680 just south of Stone Valley Road, came upon a non-injury crash in his lane, the CHP said. The driver apparently veered left to avoid the collision, and struck the center divider. The driver was apparently not wearing a seat belt, the CHP said, as he was ejected from the cab. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
