Student Hit in Vehicle Collision Near Charlotte Wood

The student suffered minor injuries from the low-speed collision.

A middle school student suffered minor injuries when he was hit by a car in Danville this afternoon, a police sergeant said.

Officers responded to a report of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian around 2:55 p.m. in the area of El Capitan and Brookside drives, near an entrance to Charlotte Wood Middle School, Danville police Sgt. Jason Haynes said.

Haynes said the victim, a male middle school student, suffered some "minor bumps" in the low-speed collision.

He is being taken to the hospital by a parent as a precaution.

Police said the driver of the car stopped immediately afterward and cooperated with police.

The collision comes the day after a 14-year-old boy was hit and critically injured by a car while crossing the street in nearby Concord.
