Chamber of Commerce Supporting Town Council on 2030 General Plan

The Danville Town Council plans to vote on final environmental impact report on the 2030 General Plan at its meeting Tuesday night.

The plan has faced some resistence from residents and city manager Joe Calibrigo has reached out to the community to try address the concerns.

The Danville Area Chamber of Commerce has released an open letter to the Town Council, reiterating their support for the council leading up to the contentious vote.

Dear Mayor Arnerich and Members of the Town Council,

The Danville Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors at its regular monthly meeting today (Feb. 27) reaffirmed the Chamber's support and confidence in the Town Council and staff as you decide the final revisions to the 2030 General Plan.

Since 1948, the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce has been the watchdog for our business community. We have been  at the table for every major planning decision and today we are here again. We have Consistently worked with the Town Council and Town Staff to ensure that Danville maintains its small town charm while promoting a robust and diverse business environment.

It is evident that Downtown Danville as we know it today didn't happen by accident, it happened by design with strict adherence to planned standards, all of which clearly demonstrates sound decision-making and integrity of leadership by the Town Council over several decades  leadership that will remain true to its mission as General Plan 2030 is finalized. Every park and open space, shopping and dining area and each block of our historic Downtown district is a reflection of what makes Danville truly special to each of us. ln the past several years, the Town’s investment of over 50 million dollars to  enhance the downtown corridor affirms why Downtown Danville is considered the preeminent 'small town' in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. The planned revitalization later this year of North Hartz Avenue, the Danville Hotel and other improvements further exemplifies the Town's commitment to our business community.

The Danville Area Chamber of Commerce will continue to monitor the Town's Work to ensure that we remain true to our cause; that is to enhance the growth and development of business and further improve the quality of life in our community. Once again, we look forward to working closely with you to achieve the best possible outcome as it pertains to the 2030 General Plan, and we thank each one of you for your service.
