Chow In Danville To Close

The Lafayette, Oakland and San Francisco locations will remain open. Will you miss this eatery?

DANVILLE, CA — After a decade in Danville, Chow will close. The popular eatery, which was located on Railroad Avenue in the Iron Horse Plaza, served American comfort food. Its locations in Lafayette, Oakland and San Francisco will remain open and the Oakland location is hiring, according to the website.

Calls to the restaurant were unanswered but the company posted a statement about the sudden closure on their website:

After a decade here on Railroad Avenue, we have made the decision to close our doors. We have truly enjoyed being a part of this community, and to have had the chance to be a part of your lives. This isn’t goodbye – we look forward to seeing you again soon in Lafayette, where you will find the same great menu, and a lot of familiar faces. You can also visit us in Oakland, at our newest location on Piedmont Avenue, or at our very first location on Church Street in San Francisco.Thank you so much for ten great years. We truly love having had the opportunity to feed you all, and are forever grateful.

The announcement comes just a few weeks after the owner of Don Jose’s in Alamo announced that they would be closing their doors after almost thirty years of business. Owner Jose Guillen Avelar said it took him months to finally make the difficult decision to sell the popular eatery. The new owners will remodel the dining room and reopen under the name El Maguey, which refers to the leaves of an agave plant, according to Guillen Avelar. The new Mexican restaurant will feature a new menu with new dishes.
