Council Approves 2030 General Plan
The general plan approved by the council differs significantly from the original proposal.

After years of hearings and debates, the Danville Town Council approved a 2030 general plan early Wednesday morning, the Contra Costa Times reports.
The approved plan, which is a growth blueprint for the town until 2030, was modified significantly from its original version, as it designated less affordable housing than first proposed.
The plan faced outspoken opposition from the community throughout the process, as many were concerned with the possible consequences of high density and affordable housing.

In a press release, the Town of Danville listed the final changes to the plan. They include:
- Removing a proposal to designate a “Priority Development Area” (PDA) as part of the Draft General Plan.
- Removing language related to the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) and the Sustainable Communities Strategy (SCS) from the Draft General Plan and Draft Sustainability Action Plan.
- Designating two sites within the Town (Borel Property and Diablo Partners/Stanley Property) to meet the minimum 9.6 acres Regional Housing Needs Allocation required by state law.
- Retaining the current 2010 General Plan definition of “agriculture” with language to describe how Measure S is implemented, delete a text box describing Measure S and incorporate the full language of Measure S as a part of the Draft 2030 Plan.
- Simplifying the language in the draft Sustainability Action Plan and emphasizing the voluntary nature of the plan.
The Times reports "several speakers said they were pleased the council had deleted parts of an earlier proposal.
