Danville Church Offering Free Groceries Saturday Morning
More than 1,000 families can receive a 30- to 40-pound box of produce, cooked meat, dairy and milk at CPC Danville.

DANVILLE, CA — Hungry East Bay residents can stop by a Danville church this weekend for a 30- to 40-pound box of groceries.
Produce, cooked meat, dairy products and a gallon of milk will be distributed from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Community Presbyterian Church Danville (222 W. El Pintado). They've got enough food to feed more than 1,000 families.
“Putting food in the hands of those in need is just one of the ways we can show others we’re for them,” said Deana Dickerson, CPC director of serve, in a news release from the church. “Our hope is to give people a little bit of help and some hope during this challenging time.”

The grocery distribution event is made possible through CityServe, a network of churches seeking to fulfill community needs, the church said. CityServe is working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which provided the groceries as part of its Farmers to Families program.
The program connects food distributors who have lost business amid the closure of restaurants, hotels and more with food banks, nonprofits, and community- and faith-based organizations that serve the community, according to its website. USDA will have facilitated the distribution of more than 113 million food boxes from May 15 to Oct. 31.
