Danville Dad's Recycled-Crayon Creations Brighten Hospital Stays

An innovative father helps provide hospitals across the country with colorful art supplies to help brighten the days of sick kids.

DANVILLE, CA — It all started years ago with kids coloring at the table while dining out. A Danville dad and his family came up with the idea of recycling castoff restaurant crayons to use them to bring smiles to the faces of sick children, according to a KTVU report. Bryan Ware founded the Danville-based “The Crayon Initiative” non-profit to help keep the crayons out of the landfills while also enriching the lives of kids who are too sick to get out of bed or be exposed to germs and illness during hospital treatments.

According to KTVU, Ware has donated thousands of packs of crayons since 2015. The triangle-shaped crayons are distributed hospitals across the country, according to the The Crayon Initiative website. Watch the full story here.
