DANVILLE, CA — A popular dress shop in downtown Danville is collecting gently used prom dresses to be donated to girls in need. Brides on Hartz has once again teamed up with the East Bay Dress Day for the dress drive.

This is the second year the store owners have collected dresses. Last year, the response from the community was overwhelming and the store donated dozens of used formal gowns.

"Marissa and I take great pride in being involved in our community. We love that we have the ability to help bring the community together to support such a wonderful cause for young girls,” co-owner Ashleigh Carone said. “There is nothing we enjoy more than to help women find the beauty in themselves and the work the East Bay Dress Day Organization does is an amazing extension of that."

Brides on Hartz, which is owned and operated by Carone and Marissa Clavin, was born from their love of weddings, event planning and gorgeous gowns. Carone said the duo met and became friends while working for the Oakland Athletics.

They said they knew their love for all things bridal and their similar outlook on business would be the perfect foundation for the vision that eventually grew to be Brides on Hartz. The dress shop, which sells bridal wear and prom gowns, opened in 2018. The duo said they set out to gather a collection of inclusive gowns in all styles for women of all sizes because they wanted every bride that walks through their doors to feel beautiful.
