Danville Holiday Tree Lighting: What To Know Before You Go

DANVILLE, CA – Downtown Danville's traditional Lighting of the Old Oak Tree is set for Nov. 24, the Friday after Thanksgiving, complete with Father Christmas and the Snow Angel.

The festivities begin at 5 p.m. with holiday entertainment by the San Ramon Valley High School Chorus and other groups performing at the reviewing stand on Diablo Road.

"Then, when the time is right, Father Christmas and the Snow Angel will come out to address the crowd," town officials said. "The Snow Angel will sprinkle her magic dust and the tree will spring to light!"

From 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., several downtown streets will be closed for the event. These include: Diablo Road - Hartz Avenue to just past the Old Oak Tree; Hartz Avenue - Linda Mesa Avenue to Hartz Way; East Prospect Avenue - Front Street to Hartz Ave.; Front Street - Diablo Road to the Front Street parking area. Traffic can reroute around the closures using Railroad Avenue.
