Danville Motorcyclist Dies In Traffic Accident

A 52-year-old man from Danville died Sunday in a traffic accident involving a bicycle.

DANVILLE, CA — A Danville man died while riding his motorcycle Sunday after colliding with a bicycle, officials said. San Ramon Valley Boulevard was closed between Fountain Springs Drive and Elworthy Ranch Road after the accident.

Around 12:30 p.m., the motorcyclist was riding south on San Ramon Valley Boulevard near the Fountain Springs Drive intersection when a bicyclist riding in the southbound bike lane lost control and fell in front of the motorcyclist, according to a statement from Geoff Gillette, spokesman for the Town of Danville.

The man on the motorcycle struck the bicycle and sustained serious injuries. San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District paramedics were dispatched to the scene, where the motorcyclist, a 52-year-old man from Danville, was pronounced dead.

The bicyclist reportedly suffered minor injuries in the collision and was transported to San Ramon Regional Medical Center for treatment. No charges have been filed, according to Gillette.

The identity was not released pending notification of next of kin.
