Danville Resident, Olympic Gold Medalist Competing In 2017 FINA World Championships
Maggie Steffens is part of the U.S.A Water Polo Women's Senior National Team.

DANVILLE, CA — Olympic gold medalist and Danville resident Maggie Steffens will be competing as part of the U.S.A Water Polo Women’s Senior National Team in the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary this month. The championships will be held between July 16 and 29, according to the team website.
Steffens, who is a member of the U.S. Olympic Women’s Water Polo Team, won a gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio. The Danville native and her sister, Jessica, won gold medals at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London. At the 2016 games, which marked the second consecutive gold medal win for the U.S.A. Women’s Water Polo Team, Maggie Steffens was named MVP of the Olympic Games and is the team’s captain.
Steffens, who was honored by the Town of Danville in September of 2016, tweeted a photo of the view from her room in Budapest.
