Danville’s Maggie Steffens In Running For 2017 Sportswoman Of The Year
The Tri-Valley woman is a member of the U.S. Olympic Women's Water Polo Team and won a gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio.

DANVILLE, CA — Olympic gold medalist and Danville resident Maggie Steffens is in the running to be the 2017 Women’s Sports Foundation SportsWoman of the Year. Steffens was honored by the Town of Danville in September of 2016, and is among ten women selected from team sports as finalists.
Steffens, who is a member of the U.S. Olympic Women’s Water Polo Team, won a gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio. The Danville native and her sister, Jessica, won gold medals at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London. At the 2016 games, which marked the second consecutive gold medal win for the U.S.A. Women’s Water Polo Team, Maggie Steffens was named MVP of the Olympic Games and is the team’s captain.
In July, Steffens competed as part of the U.S.A Water Polo Women’s Senior National Team in the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. Voting ends Aug. 27. Vote for Steffens online today!
