DANVILLE, CA — A Danville woman's dance moves stole the spotlight last week on ABC's morning talk show "Live with Kelly and Ryan."

Brooke Wollesen, a Pleasanton native, is no stranger to having her dancing skills noticed on the show. Three years ago, she scored free tickets to the show, danced her heart out in a bright-colored sweater and took deep breaths to quell her pounding heart.

"Next thing I knew, I was on the stage dancing," she said.

Over the holidays, Wollesen donned an elf hat and started jiving to Flo Rida's "Low," as daughter Sadie filmed. Her video was chosen and played as part of the "travel trivia dancer" segment, which is featured at the beginning of every show.

That segment is the best pest part of Wollesen's day, she said.

"Gets you going in the morning," Wollesen said.

This month, Wollesen reached a new level of "Live with Kelly and Ryan" fame when she was chosen as a 2020 finalist for "travel trivia dancer" of the year.

Her kids laughed, her husband was proud. Her smooth moves were featured on the show every day for a week as viewers voted on their favorite.

"I was so excited, I couldn't believe it," she said. "It was awesome."

Though she wasn't selected as a winner, Wollesen is proud to have been recognized by her favorite show.

"It is quite the honor," Wollesen said. "We've got to represent these people in California because we get up extra early to watch."
