ADVISORY: Danville Streets Closing For Old Oak Tree Lighting

The event brings thousands of people into Town from all over northern California.

DANVILLE, CA — Downtown streets will be closed November 29, 2019 as the Town of Danville continues the tradition of the Lighting of the Old Oak Tree, the Town announced.

This annual event, taking place rain or shine, is scheduled from 5:15 – 8 p.m. and brings thousands of people into Town from all over northern California. Street closures will run from 1-9 p.m. Motorists are asked to use caution and expect delays.

The Lighting of the Old Oak Tree is a day after Thanksgiving tradition. Leading up to the lighting, the San Ramon Valley High School Chorus and other groups will perform near the reviewing stand on Diablo Road. At approximately 6:15 p.m., local officials will address the crowd, followed by the introduction of Father Christmas and the Snow Angel. The pair will lead the crowd in a countdown as they sprinkle magic dust and the oak tree will spring to light.
