Former Danville Resident Competes for Miss America

Editor’s Note: Alexandra Curtis, who grew up in Danville, California, will be competing in this year’s Miss America Pageant. Allie attended Vista Grande Elementary School, Los Cerros Middle School, and is a 2010 graduate of Monte Vista High School.

(East Greenwich, Rhode Island)

A fundraiser is set for Wednesday night August 26, to help send Miss Rhode Island 2015, to the Miss America finals in Atlantic City. The party will take place at Shimmer Salon and Day Spa, 500 Main Street, East Greenwich at 7:30 p.m.

Alexandra Curtis in the new Miss Rhode Island and will compete for the title of Miss America on September 13th, live on ABC. She was Miss West Warwick 2015 and Miss East Greenwich 2014.

The event will feature food, beverages, raffle prizes, and entertainment. A $20 donation is requested. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Shimmer, or at the door. Shimmer is the official hair and make-up sponsor for Miss Rhode Island. Allie Curtis will be performing her musical-theater act which propelled her to the state crown!

Among the raffle prizes: a photo shoot from EG Studios; personal fitness coaching from Fabulous Fitness; a golf outing at Quidnessett Country Club; and a breakfast with Miss Rhode Island at Gel’s Kitchen. Many other food and entertainment prizes will be offered

Curtis is a 2014 honors graduate of Syracuse University and is presently a graduate student in the Master of Public Affairs program at Brown University in Providence. She will later continue her studies at Salve Regina University in Newport. Alexandra is the daughter of Kathi and Mark Curtis, and the family has lived in East Greenwich and now West Warwick, (and who lived in Danville, CA for a dozen years).

The Miss Rhode Island Scholarship Pageant is part of the Miss America Organization, which has awarded more scholarship money to young women, than any other organization in the world. For more information see: www.MissRI.org.
