Hot Round At Shooting Range Causes Fire Near Mt. Diablo
Firefighters from several agencies worked together to extinguish the Creek Fire.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Fire officials said an accident caused a grass fire Friday afternoon in unincorporated Contra Costa County. The fire was first reported at 4:11 p.m. on Marsh Creek Road near the Marsh Creek Detention Facility, one of three main jails in the county, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.
Assistant Chief Chris Bachman said a hot round near the shooting range caused the fire, which has now been contained. No structures were endangered and no injuries were reported, Bachman said.
Crews kept the fire to less than 20 acres. It was on a slope near Mt. Diablo State Park.
