Longtime Resident Remembered In Danville

A celebration of life and funeral services were held at Danville's San Damiano Retreat Center for Jerome M. Laughlin, 88.

DANVILLE, CA — A Walnut Creek man was remembered in Danville Monday. A celebration of life and funeral services were held at Danville's San Damiano Retreat Center for Jerome M. Laughlin, who passed away peacefully on November 1.

A long-time Danville resident before moving to Rossmoor Walnut Creek, Laughlin was 88.

Laughlin was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Laughlin on December 16, 1930. He graduated from St. Bonaventure University in Allegany, New York with a major in English. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Army as a 1st lieutenant. He was awarded the UN Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal.

On November 1, 1969 he married Judith A. Stodola in California and he enjoyed a 50-year-long career as a self-employed financial planner. He was also one of the original founders of Club Sport San Ramon over 30 years ago.

Laughlin is survived by his wife, daughter Jennifer L. Chapman (Marc Chapman), son William R. Laughlin, granddaughters Avery L. and Kaia L. Chapman, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Laughlin was the perfect example of a life lived to the fullest. Swimming 30 laps a day, practicing meditation and choosing a life filled with gratitude was always at the center of his daily routine.

Although he never had a mental illness, he believed in taking care of one’s self and knowing when to ask for help was of utmost importance.

Laughlin generously supported the local community and loved seeing people thrive. He enriched as many lives as possible with his love and positivity.
