Maguey Replaces Don Jose’s In Alamo

Don Jose's Mexican Restaurant closed in May after almost three decades in Alamo.

ALAMO, CA — A new Mexican restaurant recently opened in Alamo. Maguey opened in July in the building formerly home to Don Jose’s Mexican Restaurant. The eatery offers margaritas and traditional Mexican food with a “unique twist,” according to their Facebook page. The name Maguey refers to the leaves of an agave plant.

Don Jose’s closed in May after almost three decades in Alamo. Maguey is open daily and is located at 3168 Danville Blvd. in Alamo.

Burgerim, an international fast-food franchise launched in 2011, will open locations in San Ramon and Pleasanton.

In nearby Dublin, Lucille's Smokehouse Bar-B-Que opened in the building formerly occupied by the Elephant Bar. Down the street, a new craft beer bar will soon move into the Hacienda Crossings Shopping Center in Dublin. World Of Beer Kitchen & Bar will open later this year in the building formerly home to Johnny Garlic's, which closed in January of 2018.

In Pleasanton, SideTrack Bar + Grill will be located in the building formerly home to Joy China Cuisine. The restaurant, founded by Todd Utikal and restaurateur Skip Hinsley, will be open for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.

Monica's Livermore also celebrated a soft opening at the end of July, according to the restaurant's Facebook page.
