March, Vigil Planned For Man Shot By Danville Police
Advocates for Tyrell Wilson, a transient who was shot by Danville police in March, planned to march to the town police department Sunday.
DANVILLE, CA — A march and vigil in Danville was planned Sunday afternoon to honor a 32-year-old man who was shot by police earlier this month. The man was experiencing homelessness when he died.
Together We Stand, organizer of the march, invited participants to gather at Sycamore Park & Ride at 3:30 p.m. and march to the Danville Police Department.
"Our officers have been in contact with the organizer and the event is expected to be peaceful," Geoff Gillette, spokesman for the Town of Danville told Patch.

The man shot by police was identified as Tyrell Wilson, a 32-year-old transient. Wilson was in the hospital in critical condition since the March 11 shooting. He died of his injuries about a week later.
Officer Andrew Hall, who fired his gun at Wilson, was placed on paid leave per department policy. Police said Wilson had pulled a knife on him before he brandished his gun, according to the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff.

Hall is the same officer who pulled the trigger in a fatal 2018 shooting for which he was cleared but that was nevertheless questioned by some police use-of-force experts.

"Join us as we honor the life of Tyrell Wilson killed by Danville Officer Andrew Hall. Hall also shot and killed Laudemer Arboleda in 2018. We have to show up especially for our most vulnerable. We are responsible for getting justice and accountability because these men are no longer here to fight for themselves," according to a statement on the group's Facebook page.
"The main thing to be aware of is that the planned event is expected to be peaceful," Gillette reiterated.
Hall responded to reports that Wilson was throwing rocks off the Sycamore Valley Road overpass at other cars, according to the sheriff's department.
The sheriff's office said that Wilson pulled a folding knife and approached Hall, who fired once and struck him.
