Mustang Soccer’s Joe Owen Runs To Raise Funds
Ultramarathon competitor charges up Mount Diablo 31 times in 30 days for local food banks

Mustang Soccer Boys Coaching Director Joe Owen is a running man for a great cause.
On Thursday, Owen completed an amazing feat in which he ran to the Mount Diablo summit for 30 consecutive days in April. The summit is at 3,849 feet and overlooks Contra Costa County and more.
Owen is raising money for Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano counties, and any donation will help make an impact during this COVID-19 pandemic.

He finished the challenge in typically tireless fashion, with a huge 30 mile run with a double summit and 8,000 feet.
It’s all for helping others.
“Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me and our community,” Owen wrote recently on a gofundme page.

The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano fills a vital role: An alarming 1 in 8 people within the two counties turn to the Food Bank for emergency and supplemental food, and this need is ever increasing due to COVID-19.
For every dollar donated, the food bank can provide enough food for two meals to people in need.
Highly respected at Mustang, Owen is a former professional soccer player who has been running ultramarathons for about seven years.
“Great coach, great individual. Loves kids, and he works hard,” said Mustang Director of Coaching John Doyle recently of Owen. “He’s had tons of success with his teams.”
