“Camp NSF is our chance to create space for patients and their families to gather and provide an environment that provides support and an opportunity for fun and learning in a safe way,” said Andi Callaway, President and Founder of NSF. “Although we would prefer to gather in person, we are excited to welcome patients and families online from around the world.”
Throughout the COVID shutdown, NSF has continued its efforts, reaching well beyond the San Ramon Valley Area. The organization has led peer mentor team sessions, where a group of older teens and young adults support younger patients and teens with Nephrotic Syndrome. It’s Finding Health series has also been instrumental to patient families. This series is dedicated to the health and well-being of those diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome and their caregivers, providing information on how to manage school, life and tools and teachings on how to maintain good mental health. Last month they teamed up with UCSF’s Pediatric Nephrology and Infectious Disease Departments to offer their patient families a session and Q&A on the COVID-19 vaccine and kids. Most recently, Callaway launched a podcast, bringing on guests to share their inspirational stories and journeys managing Nephrotic Syndrome.
