New Blackhawk Plaza Restaurant Open

The Blackhawk Plaza Mexican restaurant hosted its grand opening last weekend.

DANVILLE, CA — Choza Cantina Blackhawk opened last week in Blackhawk Plaza.

The Mexican restaurant is run by Chef Jorge Hernandez, who immigrated to San Francisco in 1995 and worked in local kitchens, serving up Mexican, French, Italian and American dishes.

"Twenty-three years and a lot of hard work later, I am ready to give you the best I have," he said on Choza's website.

Choza bills itself as a family-friendly restaurant serving up homemade tortillas, nine types of tacos, and dishes ranging from chicharrones to lemon grilled mahi mahi and chicken mole. The full bar offers more than 80 tequilas and 20 mezcales, including tequilas infused with jalapeño and lemon peel, according to the restaurant's website and Facebook page.

Choza offers happy hour deals such as $2 off margaritas weekdays from 3 to 6 p.m.

The restaurant at 3421 Blackhawk Plaza Circle is open 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Weekend brunch runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
