Obituary: George Kaufer, 55

Kaufer is survived by his wife and two daughters.

The bicyclist who died Tuesday in Danville headed the facilities department for the San Mateo-Foster City School District, school officials said today.

George Kaufer, 55, of Danville, was riding a bicycle around 4:30 p.m. when he collided with a car near the intersection of Crow Canyon Road and Tassajara Ranch Drive, according to the coroner’s office and town officials.

Kaufer was hired in 2008 by the San Mateo-Foster City School District as the construction project manager and was subsequently promoted to senior project manager and then director of facilities, district spokeswoman Amber Farinha said.
