Suspect Dead In Danville Officer-Involved Shooting
The last officer-involved shooting in Danville occurred on Aug. 27, 2001, according to town officials.

DANVILLE, CA -- An officer-involved shooting occurred Saturday in Danville after officers responded to a report of a suspicious person, police said. Officers responded to the report around 11 a.m. near Cottage Lane and Laurel Drive. However, the suspect fled the scene, leading officers on a pursuit, police said.
The suspect then attempted to run over an officer at the intersection of Front Street and Diablo Road. The officer responded by firing his weapon at the car, police said.
The suspect was shot and transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The suspect is not being identified at this time, police said. The officer sustained a minor injury.

The county officer-involved protocol was invoked. This incident is being jointly investigated by the Danville Police Department, Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff, and District Attorney's Office.
