Blackhawk Grille To Reopen With New Name, Under New Ownership

The restaurant closed in March after 30 years, but plans to reopen in October, according to Danville Social.

DANVILLE, CA — The Grille at Blackhawk — formerly known as Blackhawk Grille — will reopen in October under new ownership, according to Danville Social.

Blackhawk Grille closed in March after 30 years of feeding Tri-Valley diners. Tavistock Restaurant Collection had planned to shutter the restaurant due to concerns about the coronavirus.

Former Blackhawk Grille General Manager Richard L. Villarreal purchased the restaurant and will staff it with local restaurants, according to a memo posted on the restaurant's doors, as seen in a Danville Social post.

Blackhawk Grille first opened as a fine-dining restaurant and was revamped in 2012 to serve as a more casual concept, Diablo Magazine wrote after the restaurant's makeover. The restaurant offered weekend brunch and featured a bar and al fresco seating overlooking the plaza's pond.

Blackhawk Grille is not the only Blackhawk Plaza restaurant to close this year. San Ramon Valley restaurateur Rodney Worth closed restaurants The Little Pear, which opened a decade ago, and Prickly Pear Cantina, a Mexi-Cali restaurant, in June and January, respectively.
