Red Flag Warning Extended Again In Bay Area

National Weather Service officials are now predicting the exceptionally dry, windy weather will last a day longer than initially forecast.

BAY AREA, CA — The National Weather Service has extended a red flag warning for much of the Bay Area Friday amid a period of dry, windy weather.

The watch is in effect until 8 a.m. Saturday for the North Bay and East Bay hills, but expires 6 p.m. Friday for the rest of the Bay Area. It was previously set to expire at 11 a.m.

Officials initially forecast wind gusts of up to 50 mph were possible at the highest elevations, while gusts of 30 to 40 mph were possible elsewhere in higher elevations. Valleys could see gusts around 30 mph.

Much of the Bay Area also remains under a heat advisory, which is set to lapse 9 p.m. Friday.
