San Ramon Valley Fire Offers Academy Scholarship Opportunities
The program is specifically targeted toward those living in the immediate vicinity of the District.

October 7, 2020
SAN RAMON, CA – On September 23, 2020, the Board of Directors for the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District, to recruit new firefighters locally, approved a program to assist local students/young adults with entry into the fire service. The intent of this program is to provide a District-funded pathway for those interested in becoming firefighters to obtain a Firefighter 1 Certificate and/or Paramedic License, resulting in a conditional offer of full-time employment with San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District. The program is specifically targeted toward those living in the immediate vicinity of the District. To qualify for a Firefighter 1 Academy or Paramedic School, a candidate must be a current San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District Firefighter Reserve or District Aide.

Vice President Matt Stamey stated, “The District firmly believes in recruiting from the local community whenever possible and has developed a volunteer program for high school age students through the iQuest internship program, along with Firefighter and Communications Reserve programs. We feel this scholarship program will complement our volunteer programs and recruit highly qualified candidates who have grown up in the San Ramon Valley community and are interested in pursuing a career in the fire service.”
