San Ramon Valley Street Smarts Hosts Annual Student Video Contest
Students can create 60-second public service announcement videos on a traffic safety theme.

Do you know a middle or high school student who is interested in filmmaking? If so, the San Ramon Valley Street Smarts Annual Street Smarts “Be Reel!” Video Contest is for them! Students create 60-second public service announcement videos on a traffic safety theme.

This year’s theme: “Biking with Family!”
The contest offers students the opportunity to educate the community on traffic safety issues by creating public service announcements. Videos submitted should feature middle and/or high school student(s) demonstrating and/or reflecting the theme in their submission. The contest starts on February 8, 2021 and concludes on April 22, 2021 at 4:00 p.m.

Students may work individually or in teams of up to two students in the same household. Entries will be judged by grade levels 6th – 8th and 9th – 12th. Finalist videos will be shown at a special awards ceremony held virtually in May 2021. The top video entries, in each grade level, will be honored and awarded prizes in the following categories:
“Best Use of Special Effects/Animation”
“Best Plot/Storyline”
“Best Editing”
For the entry that wins in each category, each member of the production team will receive a $25 gift card. All remaining finalists will receive a gift card consolation prize.
In addition, all finalist videos are shown on Contra Costa Television and utilized for online elementary and middle school Traffic Safety Education Programs.
