Walk to Support Danville Boy With Nephrotic Syndrome Coming Up
Wilson Callaway is a third grader battling a kidney disease. You can help fund a local Nephrotic Syndrome Symposium by joining in! VIDEO
DANVILLE, CA- Are you familiar with Nephrotic Syndrome? Last year Patch introduced you to the Callaway family of Danville who knows all about it. Wilson Callaway, a third grader at Green Valley Elementary School was diagnosed with the disorder when he was in kindergarten.
Wilson tries to keep up with other kids playing and watching sports, but he’s not like other kids. He has Nephrotic Syndrome, a mysterious disease that affects his kidneys, so when there are colds and other bugs are going around, Wilson's mom Andi keeps him home from school to protect his health.
And forget about going to places like Disneyland—too risky because of the crowds.

The clinic was funded and installed at Stanford in 2016 and is actively enrolling pediatric and adult patients.
This year, in addition to supporting our local NephCure Accelerating Cures Institute at Stanford, the group has made a goal to raise enough money to fund a local Nephrotic Syndrome Symposium in the Bay Area in 2017.
Group leaders say the symposium will bring together more than 100 patients, top doctors and health specialists, leading researchers and strategists to educate, share ideas and move forward the fight to deliver better treatments, faster, to families and patients suffering with Nephrotic Syndrome and FSGS.
The walk schedule includes:
8:30 AM - Registration begins and Silent Auction opens
9:00 AM - Walk begins
10:45 AM - Silent Auction closes
11:00 AM - Raffle winners announced and closing remarks
This event will also feature a Kid's Zone. The walk route is 1/3 of a mile along the path at beautiful Oak Hill Park. There is plenty of parking at Monte Vista High School or the lot across the street. Pets are welcome!
