Youth Bake 'Cookies For A Cause,' Donate $2,200: Danville Hero

We all know someone who's making a difference. Let's help share these amazing stories! Presented by Ring.

DANVILLE, CA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

This submission comes from Charlene Freedland, who nominated her granddaughter and her granddaughter's friend, Payton Goyke & Mason Hanshaw of Danville.

Reason for recognition: When SIP prevented her weekly volunteering at Monument Crisis Center, 16-year-old Payton found another way to help. She & her friend Mason began "Cookies for a Cause," baking & decorating custom cookies & donating $2,155 to Monument Crisis Center.

One thing to know: Payton has a very kind, giving heart and is driven to make the world a better place.
