YOLO COUNTY, CA — One person died and another person suffered major injuries in a Yolo County car crash Wednesday, according to the California Highway Patrol. The collision was reported at about 11:25 a.m. on County Road 102 at County Road 27, according to a news release from CHP Officer Rodney Fitzhugh. An ambulance was already en route as Woodland Area CHP officers were dispatched to the scene which was north of Davis, south of Woodland and east of state Highway 113.

CHP officers arrived to find a 2017 Ford F-250 pickup truck pulling a travel trailer that had been involved in a broadside collision with a 2011 Honda Accord, Fitzhugh said.

CHP's preliminary investigation revealed the Honda driven by a Woodland resident was traveling eastbound on County Road 27 when it pulled directly into the path of the Ford, which was being driven northbound on County Road 102 by a 58-year-old El Macero man, Fitzhugh said.

"As a result of the Honda failing to properly clear the intersection, a broadside type traffic collision occurred," Fitzhugh said. "The driver of the Honda was transported to Kaiser Hospital in Vacaville with major injuries. That driver later succumbed to the injuries they sustained in this collision."

The passenger of the Honda, also a Woodland resident, remained hospitalized with major injuries Wednesday evening at UC Davis Medical Center.

The identity of the Honda driver who died and the passenger who suffered injuries were not immediately provided Wednesday evening.

CHP is continuing its investigation of the crash but has determined neither alcohol nor drugs were factors.

Fitzhugh said it should be noted that County Road 27 is controlled by posted stop signs while County Road 102 is not.

The Ford driver was not treated for any injuries at the scene.

All parties were wearing their seat belts.

Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to call CHP's Woodland Area office at 530-662-4685.
