Monitoring COVID-19 variants in Davis
As part of Healthy Davis Together’s free COVID-19 testing operations, UC Davis is routinely screening all positive COVID-19 samples at the UC Davis Genome Center for variants of concern, including the Delta variant, and more than a dozen variants of interest. Although the positivity rate in Davis remains very low, there are still asymptomatic as well as symptomatic people who test positive for the virus, often with one of the more contagious variants of concern that are now prevalent in local cases.

Continuing our efforts toward the bold goal of preventing the spread of COVID-19, the HDT website now features a new variant tracker page. This tool is now available and will help the community of Davis—especially for anyone who is not vaccinated against COVID-19—to stay informed about what variants are circulating in the area.

Announcing Healthy Yolo Together
Healthy Yolo Together is a companion effort to Healthy Davis Together, managed by UC Davis, to bring some of the support services that have helped Davis maintain an extremely low COVID-19 transmission rate to the other areas of Yolo County. Healthy Yolo Together will support school districts in Yolo County as they offer free, saliva-based COVID-19 testing to students, staff and families.

Continue safety precautions going into the summer and fall
As we move into summer and the lifting of COVID-19 related restrictions, it’s important to follow local mask guidance and continue to get tested if you are not fully vaccinated or if you have symptoms.

Healthy Davis Together is shifting its free community COVID-19 testing program to include more neighborhood testing locations. To find the complete list of current locations and to make a free COVID-19 test appointment, visit www.HealthyDavisTogether.org/testing. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Testing will continue to be important as there are members of our community who are not vaccinated yet, including children under 12. Testing and vaccination information is available at www.HealthyDavisTogether.org

Through the summer and fall, Heathy Davis Together will continue to provide important services including access to vaccinations, environmental monitoring (including wastewater/sewage monitoring) and genotyping positive cases to determine the prevalence of any variants of concern.
