California Kid Calls Out Gender Bias On School Test
Ryland Ramos, a 9-year-old, is being recognized after noticing prejudice on a grammar test.

SACRAMENTO, CA -- What is wrong with the third grade grammar test pictured above? According to one California child, it's prejudice against women.
Ryland Ramos, 9, reportedly told his parents and teacher that a question on the test should have offered the "her" option as an answer. The test asked students to circle the correct pronoun in a sentence. The sentence read "The mayor did their/his best to solve the traffic problem."
Ryland responded by writing on the test, "I think it should include women."

Ryland's response prompted praise from Sacramento Councilwoman Angelique Ashby, who shared the test on her Facebook page using the hashtag #BeLikeRyland. Ashby previously called for a study on gender inequality, KCRA reported.
"I was honestly amazed," Ryland told KCRA. "I felt horrified that it didn't include women and that it was wrong."

For his efforts to promote equality, Ryland will be recognized by the City Council on Feb. 13 when leaders will present him with a resolution, KCRA reported.
